How We Remove Heating Sludge

When we find significant contamination, we first assess the boiler, radiators, valves and pipework so we know how the system is laid out and where the problems are.

We then connect specialist flushing equipment and circulate water at a high flow rate, using cleaning chemicals where they are suitable for the system.

We work through the radiators and different sections of the circuit, reversing the flow where appropriate to shift stubborn deposits. As the sludge and dirty water are removed, we replace it with clean water and keep flushing until the system runs clear.

Once the cleaning is finished, we refill and treat the system with suitable corrosion protection, then check the circulation and radiator performance.

For lighter contamination, we often use a chemical clean or another controlled approach rather than automatically carrying out a full powerflush.

Why Older Brent Homes Can Be More Difficult to Clean
